Sherri Browning Erwin
At the tender age of seven, Sherri nearly killed a promising fiction career when she abandoned pen and paper in favor of a new medium: acting out her fantasies with Barbie dolls. Fortunately, the universe believes in second chances. She put down the Barbies, picked up a laptop computer, and published her first novel, a historical romance, before turning thirty. The youngest of the Whine Sisters, Sherri Browning Erwin makes her home in Massachusetts, where she continues to sacrifice Barbie dolls to the gods of fiction in hopes of scoring wild critical and commercial success before she hits another dramatic milestone birthday. Sherri married her own Mr. Right, Mr. Always Right, the same year she graduated from Mount Holyoke College. They live happily ever after with a charming son, a lovely daughter, a crafty corgi(Pembroke Welsh) and a very special pug.
Astrological Sign: Libra. Diplomatic and charming. Indecisive and self-indulgent.

A few weeks ago, Pretty in Pink was on TV, and I watched it again. This is one I haven’t seen since 1986, the year it came out… which was also the year I was a senior in high school, like the main characters, and going through things like parties, prom, impending graduation, and the [...]

We just had a pet emergency here at home. My corgi Kylie, who was never spayed (because she never leaves the yard or spends time with unfixed male dogs, and my pug needed a few surgeries that left me unwilling to put another beloved under the knife at the time), somehow contracted a very serious [...]

I’m attracted to men who can raise one eyebrow. Weird, right? Like this: This: Yes, even this: While researching this article (yes, I research!) I discovered a link to a list of actors who act with their eyebrows. Leonard Nimoy was # 1, but I think Ryan Reynolds should be on it. He has the [...]

The tabloids (like New York Daily News, where I got most of the pictures), love to run headlines like Stars without Makeup, presumably to shock us, or make us feel better about ourselves, or worse about ourselves when stars still look good without makeup, or to make us think “whoa, that star is really not [...]

In 1999, when my first book was coming out, I joined a Dell Authors Email loop, hoping the veterans of publishing could offer some guidance in a confusing new world. I found that guidance, but also support, and something I was never expecting: lifelong friendships. We eventually all left Dell and started working with other [...]

Mindy Kaling had a blog, I think now a Tumblr, where she shares things she bought that she loves. She inspired me to do the same. 1) Mindy’s book. Is Everyone Hanging Out without Me? And other concerns. I haven’t read it yet but I plan to, because Mindy is smart and funny. She’s a [...]

The Kutchers are divorcing. @MrsKutcher might want to change that Twitter name. He’s apparently a serial cheater. Sad But good for her for moving on. Divorced Jennifer Lopez has a younger new man who dislikes wearing shirts. You get it, girl! Amy Adams loves being a mom, and doesn’t even mind that she now has [...]

Saturday, October 29: Major freak pre-Halloween snowstorm strikes the Northeast. Erwins lose power within the first few hours of the storm (after stocking up on both perishable and non-perishable food at the grocery store, naturally). Erwin daughter gets stuck on a NJ Transit train on her way into NYC to see Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter!) [...]

Have you heard of this? I won’t even say their names because I don’t think they deserve one bit of press or attention, but I wanted to bring them up anyway because the curiosity factor– like with roadkill, don’t want to look but you can’t look away– is too great. Not great enough to name [...]

For Halloween, I’m sure many people will do just that, dress up as Lady Gaga, have a ball, and take off the costume at the end of the night. Lady Gaga never gets to stop being Lady Gaga. It must be exhausting! I was thinking about it in the car the other day. How do [...]

Too many good books to read! I’m currently reading three at once. I try not to read more than one at a time, but I started on Elin Hildebrand’s Barefoot as a break from the very long and involved part two of the Game of Thrones series– and then my Kindle Daily Deal was for [...]

Before my grand birthday vacation to the wonderful world of Disney, I had the chance to visit my daughter at college for Family Weekend (We always called it Parents’ Weekend, but I guess my daughter’s school is more inclusive, and we did bring her brother along). Sadly, we left the Oh Yeah CD in the [...]

No, I’m not auditioning for Annie (though I am sure I would be rocking the red curls). I’m excited about my birthday. Tomorrow, I turn mumble-mumble. That’s right! The big mumble-mumble. You don’t really need to know my age, right? Let’s just say I’m the youngest of the Whine Sisters and leave it happily at [...]

By now, we’ve all seen those trendy athletic shoes that are supposed to tone your tush and thighs when you’re wearing them. At first, I wasn’t tempted because the Skechers versions bore an unfortunate resemblance to orthopedic shoes. The last thing I wanted was to look like a grandma while out for my daily walk. [...]

September 21 is a great day, one to celebrate because it is the birthday of beloved Whine Sister and best friend Kathleen Givens. It’s a happy day of wonderful memories for me, but also a sad day because she is not here to make more. I miss her so much that it hurts, still hurts, [...]

The husband and I enjoy watching cheesy movies together, often 80s movies. They’re on cable most weekend afternoons (not like we actually rent them, though in the case of certain ones like John Cusack’s Better Off Dead, that has happened). On a weekend not too long ago, we happened to start watching Michael J. Fox [...]

A tourist in Paris, amateur photographer, got the most amazing shot of the Eiffel Tower. It has been all over the news, but in case you haven’t seen it… I like to think that’s the way it is when I get a new book idea, a great big charge comes down and zaps me full [...]

You’re a good person (because you’re one of our readers, so obviously). You work hard all week at your crappy job (or maybe you love your job, but you’re working hard) to make ends meet, maybe save a little for a rainy day, if things are going well. Meanwhile… Kim Kardashian’s on her honeymoon, having [...]

I’m borrowing the Starks’ motto from Game of Thrones. I can’t wait for Season Two. And in the meantime, that delicious hunk of man, Jason Momoa, who portrayed Khal Drogo, is the new Conan the Barbarian. I didn’t think we needed a new Conan, but some graphic novel fans set me straight. Arnold Schwarzegovner was [...]

1. When Facebook “friends” announce they have a dilemma- “4900 friends and 57 more in the queue, oh no! what shall I do?” I make it easy on them and drop them as my friend. I’m nice like that. Who really has 5000 friends? That’s why we have “Like” pages. 2. I also like to [...]
