Jacquie D'Alessandro

Jacquie D'Alessandro is the New York Times and USAToday Bestselling author of more than 30 books. She grew up on Long Island, NY, where she fell in love with romance at an early age. She dreamed of being swept away by a dashing rogue riding a spirited stallion. When her hero finally showed up, he was dressed in jeans and drove a Volkswagen, but she recognized him anyway. They married after both graduating from Hofstra University and are now living their happily-ever-afters in Atlanta, Georgia, along with their son, who is a dashing rogue in the making, and Kennesaw the cat, who kindly allows them to reside in HER house. Jacquie's won a few writing awards (probably her mom was a judge), and was famously a RITA finalist this past summer in the same category as Julia London. Sadly, they cancelled each other out and both lost, although that might be good as it prevented a throw down of epic proportions. Jacquie writes both contemporary and Regency-era historical romances filled with two of her favorite things-- love and laughter. She is honored to be a Whine Sister, yet is torn over which title she likes better-- Whiner, or Wino? Although, why choose? She'll just take both-- with a side of Brie and grapes, if you please.

Jacquie lives in Atlanta, Georgia. You can read more about her and her books at jacquied.com

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

It was an exciting week here at Casa D’Alessandro as our son graduated from college!  Yes, it is now official–the boy is a University of Georgia grad, with a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs.  YAY!   Thought I’d share a few pics of the event (’cause we only took like 6,000 photos ).  The ceremony took [...]

Way Back When…

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Way back when, in November 1999, just a few weeks after the publication of my first book (Red Roses Mean Love), I was interviewed by Jill Vejnoska, a features reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.  I was really excited about it, and Jill was extremely nice and witty during our phone interview.  She told me the story [...]

Getting together

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I love getting together with my two best gal friends, Wendy and Jenni (authors Wendy Etherington and Jennifer St. Giles) but since we live about two hours apart it doesn’t happen as often as we’d like.  Weeks ago we made a date for this past weekend–party at Casa D’Alessandro!  And boy, did we have fun!  [...]

Mangia, Italiano!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

When I graduated from college, my gift from my parents was a trip to London and Paris.  We had a fabulous time and made memories I’ll never forget.  As our son is graduating college next month, the DH and I decided that we wanted to gift him with a trip.  We told him we’d take [...]

The Best Show You’re Not Watching

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Since we’ve been blogging recently about favorite shows/movies, I thought I’d continue the trend and tell you about a wonderful show I watch–one I suspect you’re not watching, but should.  It’s called Sandwich King and it airs on the Food Network on Sunday mornings at 11am (go ahead and set your DVR right now–I’ll wait.  [...]

Dancing With the…WHOA–Who is THAT?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

As I do every season, I tuned in to the new edition of Dancing With the Stars which started a couple weeks ago.  I love the costumes and the dancing–watching the pros like Derek Hough move in ways that defy logic, and the celebs improve with each passing week.  I hadn’t even heard of a [...]

TENNIS, ANYONE?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m an avid tennis fan–and especially of one particular Spanish player. However, I’m an equal-opportunity tennis fan–I also love Roger Federer and American (and University of Georgia alum!)  John Isner, who just broke into the top ten in the world (Congrats, John!).  As much as I enjoy sitting on [...]

Last week I posted about the first leg of our recent Arizona adventure which took place in sunny Scottsdale where my DH had conference.  When the conference ended,we rented a car and began the four hour drive to the Grand Canyon–a place we’ve both always wanted to visit.  We broke up the trip by stopping [...]

My Latest Great Adventure

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I love to travel.  And lucky for me, my DH recently had a conference in Scottsdale, Arizona–so guess who got to go with him?  (If you guessed moi, you’re right! ).  One of the great things about my husband’s conferences is that they’re always at a swanky resort and this time was no exception.  The [...]

A BAKER I AM NOT

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I enjoy cooking–being in the kitchen, putting meals together, discovering new recipes.  I’m fascinated by shows like Chopped, where chefs can take an oddball assortment of ingredients and come up with a spectacular meal.  I absolutely cannot do that (although I wish I could) and it’s on my Bucket List to someday take cooking classes. [...]

ADVENTURES IN DINING

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Over the past two weeks I’ve experienced some very interesting eating adventures.  The first came about when I learned–much to my surprise–that a number of people in my neighborhood enjoy going to lunch at…gas stations.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Gas stations.  I listened in amazement as several folks extolled the wonders of the hot [...]

Jeans and Beans

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

It was a fun-filled weekend here at Casa D’Alessandro–and I have the photos to prove it.  Things started off with a bang with my neighborhood’s Jeans and Beans night–a county/Western themed party which included a chili cook-off and a dessert contest.  My DH signed up to enter the chili contest, so I decided to enter [...]

AT THE MOVIES/WEEKEND PLANS

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I agree with Sherri’s post earlier this week that the most important thing about the Oscars (to me, anyway) is what everyone will wear.  Still, there are movies up for awards and I guess I should give them a bit of attention in between oogling the gowns.   Nine films are nominated for Best Picture.  I’ve [...]

IN THE NEWS

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

One of the things I love best about my new smart phone is the USAToday app.  One touch and all the day’s headlines are at my fingertips.  And best of all?  The app is FREE.  Yes, FREE!  So between that app and USWeekly Magazine, I’m all caught up on the news.  Here are the top stories [...]

My Very Excellent Adventure

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

My dad recently had a pacemaker put in and isn’t able to drive for a month.  That fact, added to his recovery time, forced my parents to cancel their planned trip to ATL for the holidays.  Bummer!  Even worse, due to an overload of work committments, my DH can’t take any time off between now [...]

Favorite Holiday Songs

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

One of the things I like best about this time of year is the music.  So many good songs–it doesn’t seem fair that we only get to hear them for a few weeks out of the year.  Given it’s The Most Wonderful Season of All, I thought I’d share my Top Ten Favorite Holiday Tunes.  [...]

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS…

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I had my monthly book club meeting last night, and even though we meet in the evening, I turned the outing into a full day Christmas shopping extravaganza because my other four book club mates all live near my old neighborhood—translation: an hour and a half away from where I now live. It’s been quite [...]
