Jacquie D'Alessandro

Jacquie D'Alessandro is the New York Times and USAToday Bestselling author of more than 30 books. She grew up on Long Island, NY, where she fell in love with romance at an early age. She dreamed of being swept away by a dashing rogue riding a spirited stallion. When her hero finally showed up, he was dressed in jeans and drove a Volkswagen, but she recognized him anyway. They married after both graduating from Hofstra University and are now living their happily-ever-afters in Atlanta, Georgia, along with their son, who is a dashing rogue in the making, and Kennesaw the cat, who kindly allows them to reside in HER house. Jacquie's won a few writing awards (probably her mom was a judge), and was famously a RITA finalist this past summer in the same category as Julia London. Sadly, they cancelled each other out and both lost, although that might be good as it prevented a throw down of epic proportions. Jacquie writes both contemporary and Regency-era historical romances filled with two of her favorite things-- love and laughter. She is honored to be a Whine Sister, yet is torn over which title she likes better-- Whiner, or Wino? Although, why choose? She'll just take both-- with a side of Brie and grapes, if you please.

Jacquie lives in Atlanta, Georgia. You can read more about her and her books at jacquied.com

Jeans and Beans

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

It was a fun-filled weekend here at Casa D’Alessandro–and I have the photos to prove it.  Things started off with a bang with my neighborhood’s Jeans and Beans night–a county/Western themed party which included a chili cook-off and a dessert contest.  My DH signed up to enter the chili contest, so I decided to enter [...]

AT THE MOVIES/WEEKEND PLANS

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I agree with Sherri’s post earlier this week that the most important thing about the Oscars (to me, anyway) is what everyone will wear.  Still, there are movies up for awards and I guess I should give them a bit of attention in between oogling the gowns.   Nine films are nominated for Best Picture.  I’ve [...]

IN THE NEWS

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

One of the things I love best about my new smart phone is the USAToday app.  One touch and all the day’s headlines are at my fingertips.  And best of all?  The app is FREE.  Yes, FREE!  So between that app and USWeekly Magazine, I’m all caught up on the news.  Here are the top stories [...]

Actually, I should call this blog The DH’s Latest Gadget–because I’m still having a grand old time playing with my new smart phone.  But last week the DH did some online shopping and Ta Dah!  We are now the proud owners of this thing: If you’re scratching your head, wondering, “What the heck is that?” [...]

I’M IN LOVE

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Well, it’s finally happened–I’ve upgraded.  Out with old, in with the new.  And I’m in love. With my new smart phone. Yes, my new Motorola Atrix 2 has stolen my heart–and I don’t even know everything it can do yet.  Oh, but the pleasure it’s already brought me!  The FREE Kindle App has me sighing [...]

My Very Excellent Adventure

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

My dad recently had a pacemaker put in and isn’t able to drive for a month.  That fact, added to his recovery time, forced my parents to cancel their planned trip to ATL for the holidays.  Bummer!  Even worse, due to an overload of work committments, my DH can’t take any time off between now [...]

Favorite Holiday Songs

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

One of the things I like best about this time of year is the music.  So many good songs–it doesn’t seem fair that we only get to hear them for a few weeks out of the year.  Given it’s The Most Wonderful Season of All, I thought I’d share my Top Ten Favorite Holiday Tunes.  [...]

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS…

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I had my monthly book club meeting last night, and even though we meet in the evening, I turned the outing into a full day Christmas shopping extravaganza because my other four book club mates all live near my old neighborhood—translation: an hour and a half away from where I now live. It’s been quite [...]

YUM!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I love marshmallows.  Love their soft texture, their sweet taste, their ooey, gooey goodness.  I love them roasted, toasted, covered in chocolate, or plopped in hot chocolate.  My favorite sandwich is a Fluffernutter (peanut butter and marshmallow fluff).  My favorite part of being a girl scout was making s’mores over the campfire.   My favorite part of [...]

Are You Ready to Dance?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Tonight marks the end of another season of one of my favorite shows, Dancing With the Stars.  I was glued to the tv last night to see the free style dances of the three remaining contestants vying for the coveted mirror ball trophy.  Here’s my take the trio of stars: Ricki Lake.  I like Ricki–she [...]

What are you reading?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

For Book Saturday I decided to blog about WIRN, which is What I’m Reading Now.  I recently finished Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and am about to begin book 2 of the trilogy, Catching Fire.   If not for my book club I never would have read Hunger Games–dystopia isn’t really my cuppa.  Plus, the premise [...]

HOW COOL IS THAT?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I have a weakness for cool kitchen gadgets.  I have an entire shelf in my basement devoted to off-beat kitchen stuff that I don’t use very often, but when I pull them out, they provide lots of fun.                   For instance, there’s my tabletop s’mores maker.  So much fun!  Just light the flame and [...]

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I’ve never been particularly athletic.  I wasn’t one of those kids in school who was good at sports.  No, I was more like one of those kids who always got picked last in gym.  I sucked at volleyball, field hockey, dodge ball and all that assorted crap we had to play.  Yet I’ve always enjoyed [...]

HOW DO THEY DO THAT?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

As far back as I can remember, we always had a pet.  My parents adopted Tony the cat six months before I was born and good old Tony (who was a prince among cats) lived to the ripe old age of 18.   Tony bore the indignities of being dressed in baby clothes and pushed around [...]

WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I need to add another tv show to my already too long “must watch” list like I need a hole in my head.  But here I am, adding more and more shows to TiVo.  My latest addictions are the new season of Dancing With the Stars, Chopped, Rachel Zoe Project, Project Runway, and Revenge.  First–Dancing [...]

I FEEL PRETTY!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I love to entertain, love having friends and family over, love making trays of appetizers, cooking fun meals, and concocting fattening desserts.  As for the caloric fallout, I figure, hey—that’s what treadmills are for. Right now my sister-in-law and niece are visiting from New York and we’re having a blast.  Sadly they’re leaving tomorrow, but [...]

BOOK SATURDAY

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

As a reader, I’ve always enjoyed anthology stories.  I like the fact that I can read one in a matter of hours and that I often find new-to-me authors in a collection that I purchased in order to read one particular story. As a writer, I love anthologies because the short length is not only [...]

ROLL OUT THE BARREL!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Good times were had at Casa D’Alessandro over the weekend as we attended our neighborhood’s annual Octoberfest celebration.  We weren’t able to attend last year (our first year here), so we were excited to give it a try.  The evening included all those Octoberfest must haves–beer, bratwurst, sauerkraut, red cabbage, strudel, and oh yes, more [...]

WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Some friends I’m on an email loop with were discussing their favorite ice cream flavors, and now ice cream is now all I can think about (clearly I’m very susceptible to the power of suggestion, LOL!).  I recently discovered two new-to-me brands of ice cream and I am seriously in love.  Actually, they aren’t ice [...]
