Jacquie D'Alessandro

Jacquie D'Alessandro is the New York Times and USAToday Bestselling author of more than 30 books. She grew up on Long Island, NY, where she fell in love with romance at an early age. She dreamed of being swept away by a dashing rogue riding a spirited stallion. When her hero finally showed up, he was dressed in jeans and drove a Volkswagen, but she recognized him anyway. They married after both graduating from Hofstra University and are now living their happily-ever-afters in Atlanta, Georgia, along with their son, who is a dashing rogue in the making, and Kennesaw the cat, who kindly allows them to reside in HER house. Jacquie's won a few writing awards (probably her mom was a judge), and was famously a RITA finalist this past summer in the same category as Julia London. Sadly, they cancelled each other out and both lost, although that might be good as it prevented a throw down of epic proportions. Jacquie writes both contemporary and Regency-era historical romances filled with two of her favorite things-- love and laughter. She is honored to be a Whine Sister, yet is torn over which title she likes better-- Whiner, or Wino? Although, why choose? She'll just take both-- with a side of Brie and grapes, if you please.

Jacquie lives in Atlanta, Georgia. You can read more about her and her books at jacquied.com

If you are a coffee or tea drinker, have I got a machine for you.  It’s called a Keurig, and it’s a single cup coffee maker and I LOVE this thing.  No more wasted coffee, no more waiting for coffee to brew or tea to steep.  Just pop in a K-pak, press a button, and [...]

POP CULTURE MONDAY–HOW ENGAGING!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Pop culture has recently been inundated with a spate of celebrity engagements.  Among those preparing to walk down the aisle are country singer Carrie Underwood and her hockey honey Mike Fisher.

Aren’t they a gorgeous couple?  I’ve loved her ever since American Idol–so talented and she seems like a lovely young woman.   Also engaged to a [...]

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR FUN LATELY?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

My sister is visiting from Pennsylvania, a real treat as we don’t get to see each very often.  As such, I wanted to do something fun and memorable with her–something she wouldn’t ordinarily do.  Since we are both huge Princess Diana fans, I took to her to the Atlanta Civic Center to the Celebrate Diana [...]

FASHION FRIDAY: LOVES AND PEEVES

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Every Sunday a small column runs in the Atlanta newspaper featuring the style of a local resident.  They list their best find, favorite stores, favorite outfit, and their fashion pet peeves, so I thought it might be fun to do the same with the Whiners.
My best find: my alligator purse, who I named Allie.  Here [...]

Writers’ Corner Thursday: Wanna Win $1000 and see your name in print?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

In today’s writers’ corner I want to tell you about something that probably falls under the category of Blatant Self-Promotion, but since the prize is $1000, I’m hoping you’ll forgive me.  In September 2008, I was fortunate enough to be a part of a Regency-era anthology with Stephanie Laurens, Mary Balogh, and Candice Hern, entitled [...]

WHINY WEDNESDAY–I’M SO DISORGANIZED!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

Today’s whine is this:  getting organized is a huge pain in the you-know-where.  BUT–this whine has a happy ending because I figured out how to solve the disorganization problem that plagues everyone on the planet (with the possible exception of Martha Stewart).  Here’s the answer in one word: bins.  Yup, storage bins have changed my life.  When [...]

POP CULTURE MONDAY: WHAT’S YOUR REALITY?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

As much as I wish it wasn’t true, I have to confess—-I’ve become addicted to certain reality shows.  I’ve managed to avoid some of them (The Bachelor, Survivor, and the one where Brett Michaels keeps trying to find true love) but there are a few that have sucked me in and I’m hooked.  Some of [...]

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT?

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

We don’t go out for dinner very often any more. It got to the point where it was really expensive and we were often not completely thrilled with the meal—-at least not for the price. After trying lots of restaurants, we realized our favorite one–the one we kept going back to over and over, the [...]

Reflecting on the Old, Starting on the New

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

I always spend a good part of every January 1st reflecting on what I did the previous year and what I plan to do in the upcoming year.  Goals for 2010 include lots of writing, successfully moving all our belongings into our new house this spring, and the usual eating right/exercising mantra that runs through [...]

THE YEAR I RUINED CHRISTMAS DINNER

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

The Year I Ruined Christmas Dinner
‘Twas the night before Christmas…
We’ve all heard the classic Christmas poem that begins with those unforgettable words.  One year, however, they had a whole different meaning in my family–the Year I Ruined Christmas Dinner.  Now, in my defense, I didn’t mean to ruin Christmas dinner. Certainly I was too young [...]

WHINY/STRANGE NEWS WEDNESDAY

by Jacquie D'Alessandro
christmascookie

I know I’m supposed to either whine today or supply you with some strange news, but I have nothing to complain about (except maybe the fact that I have my annual ob/gyn appointment today–not my favorite way to spend the morning), and the only strange thing to me in the news is why when Tiger [...]

GOOD BUYS/GOOD BOOKS TUESDAY!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro
pic frame

I went Christmas shopping yesterday and am very pleased with the results.  It’s a struggle every holiday to come up with gift ideas for my parents and in-laws, but I think we hit on a winner this year.  We decided to get them both digital picture frames, and since they aren’t computer savvy (like I [...]

WELCOME TO POP CULTURE MONDAY!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro
newmoon

Greeting Whiners!
I’m very excited to be posting on “Pop Culture” Monday!  Since that topic makes it difficult to blog about my Thanksgiving at the beach, I’ll instead chat about the pop culture phenomenon that has sunk its fangs into us.  Yes, I’m talking about the Twilight saga. I’m in a book club with four other [...]

Our New Baby!!

by Jacquie D'Alessandro

We’re havin’ a baby…my baby and me…

Those are the words to an old song, and they’re perfect for the news I have to share.  I have to say, it came as a bit of a surprise—we hadn’t really planned to get a baby at this time, but when we saw her, my husband and I [...]

Since no one needs bad news and because I’m so happy to be here Whining, I thought I’d blog about a recent happy day–my niece’s wedding.  My DH Joe [...]
