The Inauguration festivities are over, but I loved watching. Love Michelle’s red dress. Not crazy about her bangs, but she’s awesome anyway. I also loved the purple coats on the Obama girls.
It’s snowing here. Again. (Pretty, but… I’m over it.)
The Patriots lost to the Ravens. Well done, Ravens. But I’m still excited about the Superbowl. Brother vs. Brother, how cool is that? There’s a Harbaugh coaching for each team (San Francisco 49ers vs Baltimore Ravens, for those not in the know). And even though they beat my beloved Pats, I like the Ravens. And I like the 49ers. So, tough call on who wins that one.
My poor dog has been wearing the Cone of Shame for two weeks now and she gets it off later today! So happy for her (and for me! we both gain some extra freedom). She had surgery to repair an ear hematoma. Fingers crossed that she’s all better now.
Kate and Wills are having a baby, but Prince Harry is in the news again. Mostly to remind us that he’s not all about naked romps and shenanigans, he also fights with his fellow soldiers in Afghanistan (20 weeks, and he’s on the way home). Bonus, he’s adorable.
I have a very important deadline tomorrow (and I can almost tell you all about my next exciting project– Downton Abbey fans, get ready!)
And speaking of Downton, have you been watching? Free Bates! Isn’t it time we busted him out of jail? All right, here’s a picture of a younger Mr. Bates. Care to join me in busting him out now? Lucky Anna.
Did you catch Dowager Lady Grantham’s advice to her granddaughter Edith?
Um, whining is an important activity. But she’s right. Edith needs something to do. Has she found her calling with the newspaper? Perhaps being jilted at the altar was a good thing after all?
Tom Branson, man or mouse?
Are you excited about the Super Bowl? Do you like Prince Harry? Any new nominees for Whine Person of the Year? Perhaps Edith. Or Violet. Or any of our favorites from Downton Abbey?

LOL lots of fun! Thank you for making me smile. It was a long day at work today and another one tomorrow. Can’t wait for Edith to have her moment in the sun.
Allow me to Whine (sorry Lady Grantham). Reporting in that it was a very stressful morning at the vets. Kylie doesn’t get on well with other dogs, and the office was packed with loud, unhappy dogs (and a few all too happy dogs). So she had to wait her turn in the car (and it’s very cold out, so that was a challenge in itself). And then, the bandages came off and… well, not a pretty sight. Kind of shocking, actually. The good news is that she will heal, with some extra TLC and the Elizabethan collar in place. But I came home and had a cry. Maybe I’m just a big baby, but I was so stressed out. Better now though.
-hugs- Sherri, Kylie is not a spring chicken. Give it time. I am so sorry it is taking so long. You are such a wonderful fur mom! xxxx
No, she’s not a spring chicken, poor old girl. She’s being quite the trouper, though. Handling it better than I am.
To be honest, DA is an American thing. I do not know one person here in England that watches it! Seriously! And I seem to miss the episodes so I have not caught a one. Not one. Sorry!!!
Tom who?
I think they need to back off on some of the reporting that they do. The headlines today on all the papers is how Harry has killed Taliban. How great is that! How much bigger did that bounty on his head now go up? If he gets shot and killed, though it is where he has put himself, the family can also point a finger at the news reporters for sensationalizing his killing fanatics who are probably now foaming at the mouth to kill him.
Pippa has been in the news. Apparently Kate’s sister likes using a purse made in India by workers who are paid like 17 cents a day or something like that. Yeah. What happened to buying products made in the country you are in? American made. British made. Or like shrimp. This just boggles my mind. In Scotland, they have certain areas we are allowed to troll for the shrimp. Right? Then it is packed into containers and shipped to China for it to be beheaded and cleaned then returned to containers and shipped BACK to the UK for consumption. How STUPID is that?
49r’s or the Ravens. Hmmm. I am not a fan of either but I will choose the Ravens ONLY BECAUSE Merlin, who is a female raven at the Tower of London, decided I was pretty fun to chase and follow the day I went to the Tower so I will pick the Ravens team just for her.
Another nominee? I think people who care for the disabled should get a huge nod. All this training. Like today. Communicating with someone who is non-verbal and has learning difficulties. I am just amazed at the patience people have, and how smart some of these silliest of things are.
ps…have you done an ICE on your cell/mobile phone yet? You can download an app for incase of emergency OR just put *ICE* next to the people who know you best (husband mother etc) incase something happens to you and an emergency worker uses your phone to find someone who know you and your allergies, blood type, age, name etc.
Ah, Ti, plenty to say as usual. That shrimp thing is ridiculous. Also, media- a problem everywhere. Pippa’s party planning book flopped and now they’ve cut the other two she was supposed to do, apparently. Of course the raven took a fancy to you, Ti. Must do that ICE thing, good point.
Speaking of Super Bowls… noticed that Tom Brady now has some sort of undefined injury which made him turn down the Pro Bowl… [sour grapes?].. But YEA!!! Andrew Luck gets to go as first alternate!!
Free BATES!!!!
I think Brady just doesn’t like to Pro Bowl. I doubt it’s sour grapes, but it doesn’t help to win over people who think he has an elitist attitude. Is Peyton Pro-Bowling?
Re Downton–missed the season opening episode (ACK!) but caught episodes 2 and 3 last night on TiVo. Such a great show! Yes–we need to get Bates out of jail. Let’s form a posse!
LOVE Prince Harry! I was just saying to the kid and the DH yesterday that I think it’s totally unfair that England gets the divine Harry, Prince William, Duchess Catherine, Colin Firth, Damien Lewis, and Helen Mirren while we get Snooki, Kardashians, Real Housewives, Honey Boo Boo and Teen Moms. WHY?????? HOW did this happen? Can we trade?
A big kiss for your sweet little dog, Sherri!
The fact that I forgot to comment about the Super Bowl is probably a good indication of how excited (not) I am about the game.
Prince Harry is adorable. But I think England has some “celebs” they would like to ship off as well. I’m sure Ti could fill us in.
You cannot have Keith Lemon! He is naughty and funny! But you can have Russell Brand and Piers Morgan and uh…Mary Beard. Oh for the love of God please take her. She is absolutely blind to the fact that we have too many immigrants especially illegals. She really needs to rethink her hair. Now do not get me wrong…anyone that knows me knows I love history and she is a Classicist and her show Meet The Romans was brilliant…but she really is out of touch with the real world now and today. Maybe send her to Arizona so she can see the harm done by illegals to areas of national beauty like the desert. I have a friend that lives there. It really is shocking.
I agree. Keep Octomom. Snookie. Katie Price/Jordan. Kardashians. HoneyBooBoo. Real Housewives. Or send them to a new planet because they certainly do not act like they came from this one.
FREE BATES!!!!! Tom has beliefs but I think he did the wrong thing in leaving Sybil on her own. And certainly for wanting her to go back. Go Edith. I was so sad for her when dufus walked away. Noble British and all that. And I love Maggie Smith/Dowager Lady Grantham–every word out of her mouth is spot on!
Yay for your sweet dog–freedom will be so nice! LOVED the red dress on Mrs. Obama. And am getting used to the bangs actually. Girls are getting so grown up. Nice to watch them as a family!
Couldn’t care less about the Super Bowl–your Brady cinched it for me as he’s my go to guy for Super Bowls.
Person of the year? On a positive note–I’ll say Dowager Lady Grantham! on a negative note — whiney guy who jilted Edith–I’ve already banished his name from my mind.
Sir Anthony, was it? I’m already forgetting him, too.
