Question of the Week

by Sherri Browning Erwin on September 7, 2012

I never had a real vacation this year. It was a stay at home summer, and that’s not bad. But I miss the beach!

Julia London had some time in the mountains, though, which made me wonder.

Given the choice, do you pick beach or mountains?

Definitely a New England beach. I have been to many beaches, but nothing is more relaxing then the beaches of New England.

Oh yeah, Jan. Move your beach chair right here next to mine. :)

Tough choice, but I’d have to pick mountains. But then if you were in the mountains next to a lake you’d have both, especially if it’s a large lake like Tahoe or Almanor in California. Yep, the best of both.

Well, it works, but still not the same as an ocean beach for me. But yeah, sounds pretty good right now.

Beach… always the beach… grew up on water and love the sound of waves…

Love that sound! And the smell. And lobster and clambakes…

Tough answer.. But I would have to say the beach.. I spent many, many summers at our cottage on the beach and I miss it now that we do not have it any longer… One day I will have a beach side home somewhere.. But hey the mountains are not too shabby to have a cottage for the peace and quiet they would bring.. And so majestic too…

All those trees, paths to explore, and the natural beauty all around. They both have their appeal.

My perfect vacation involves both ocean and mountains. So I’m partial to places like Ireland and Maine where you can stand on the cliff looking down at the ocean. That said, I’d pick mountains if forced to decide.

I do love Maine. I prefer to be on the flat sand with a book, staring out at the Atlantic, but yeah. Maine.

I’m a beach girl. That’s not to say that I don’t like me some mountains–I do. But you asked me to choose, so I gotta go with beach.

My beach is so special that I asked my wonderful husband would he mind awfully if we could get married on it. And that is what we did! Barefoot on the beach!
I need to dig down into my pc and find some of the older pics of when we first moved here. There are some gorgeous pictures I took, mainly of mtns!

I love that, barefoot on the beach! It makes for a beautiful wedding, and one that is very special for you.

Why not both!! I love the Smokies but I grew up on the beach in Daytona. There are places here in the UK that I can have both beach AND mountains! But then again, no matter where I am, I am always within a 2 hour drive of the beach, depending on traffic. And there are mountains everywhere. My husbands laughs (pronounced law-ffs) at me because I am a Florida girl. His lil hills are mountains to me!

You’re special to us, Ti. I’ll let you have both. Mainly because hills are mountains to me, too. What we call mountains in New England would be lawffed out of other mountainous areas. I like mountains, but when I want to relax and get away I am more in need of the beach.
