Well, it turns out that August 7 is a banner day in the Kenner household. Why? Because of three exciting things happening today
First of all, today’s the day we register Catherine as a public school kid. I’ve got all my paperwork all lined up, including the transcript/report card I had to make for her. What I don’t have is my driver’s license. Oops! Lost it over the weekend in Austin. But a parent must present a photo id. Is it ironic and weird that I’ll be registering my daughter for elementary school using my conceal carry permit?
And tonight, Cartoon Network is showing an hour long preview of their new How To Train Your Dragon spin-off series. Isabella’s about bouncing off the walls … and terribly afraid we’re going to forget (ha!) or not get to see it at all (it’s not on the online tv guide). Hopefully, life will still be worth living at our household come 6:30 tonight.
But the biggest news as far as I’m concerned? Today is the opening of the Starbucks just around the corner. Woot!
I think we may actually go to the ribbon cutting at noon. Because, well, why not?
So what are you doing today?

I am SO jealous of your Starbucks! The closest one to me is 45 minutes away. Yes–FORTY-FIVE minutes!
Of course, I’m not currently drinkin coffee–it’s caffeine-free herbal tea for me. The caffeine sets off hot flashes–even the little bit in decaf. I MISS COFFEE! I HATE HERBAL TEA!
Clearly I need to relax.
Guess I’ll have a cup of herbal tea.
Sigh.
We just went!! LOTS of indoor and outdoor seating! The ribbon cutting is Friday at 12:15 (I must have read the flyer wrong; today’s the opening, Friday is the ribbon cutting). It was fab!
And I’m sure they serve herbal tea, too
I had my first mammogram yesterday. Have not yet entered the world of hot flashes, but I guess I had better start trying to like herbal tea.
I didn’t even know you had a conceal carry permit. Things are different in TX. And NJ, if you go by Stephanie Plum books.
But hey, it’s a photo ID (is it? I wouldn’t know but I’m guessing considering you can use it).
How about using your passport?
I’d have to find that, LOL. The ccp is in my wallet.
Yup. It looks just like a DL and even has my DL number on it along with the CCP number.
They didn’t even blink at the school!
It’s Texas
I lived in Texas for number of years, and can attest to this. Your CCP is just as good as any other license, although it is funny that you know where *this* is and have misplaced your DL.
LOL! Well, in my defense, I know exactly where the DL is. I had to leave it with the paddle boat rental people. Turns out that paddle boating on town lake in August is HOT and EXHAUSTING and I was so busy buying water for us when we returned the boat that I forgot the license. But there’s no way I’m driving into Austin twice this week (have to go on Thursday anyway), so the CCP will do just fine.
I am a bit concerned about the passport. Where the HECK could I have put those things????
well Elizabeth I wasn’t going to comment on that– but now that you have…
Today, I have the house to myself and thought I would try and write a few pages on the book I have been trying to write for years. I probably will never make anything of it. But my friends and daughter likes it so far. I guess that is all that counts.
I could go for a Starbuck’s coffee right about now!
Or you could pop in and have tea and crumpets with the Queen, right? Oh, she’s busy with the Olympics. I guess.
Maybe she’ll parachute in to your area. Never mind. Write! Write!
Go, Ti, Go!!!!!! Cheering your typing fingers on!
I hit a road block. My mind is mush. Will try again tomorrow. I just have too many things to say and not sure how to say them.
I would hide if the Queen came parachuting here. I hate crowds!
May your muse inspire and your caffeine ignite (your brain)
Sounds like a fabulous day at the Kenners! And I’d be shocked if you weren’t at the ribbon cutting!
I got the date wrong! Oh well … an excuse to go back on Friday!
Two two lattes in one!
