So today I’m happy to announce the re-release of my Last Chance Series in digital format.
The best of the best, the interagency task force is given the country’s most difficult operations. Jobs that require not only special expertise, but also the ability to color outside the lines. Headed by industrialist Cullen Pulaski, the team isn’t bound by rules and regulations. Their only charge is to get things done.
Endgame, Enigma, Exposure. “Psychological suspense…expertly combined with action and romance.” –Romantic Times
FBI profiler Madison Harper and CIA undercover operative Gabriel Roarke go together like oil and water, but there’s no denying the physical attraction. As they work together to track down a murderer, Madison finds herself in the killer’s sights—and she and Gabriel must trust their instincts to stay alive.
CIA undercover operative Payton Reynolds is stuck babysitting bomb specialist Samantha Waters as they try to outmaneuver a serial bomber. But as the situation intensifies and the bomber circles closer, the two begin to rely on each other in ways neither could have imagined. As sparks begin to fly, their world literally explodes, leaving them in a fight to outwit their foe — or die…
British special agent Nigel Ferris has devoted his life to working covert operations, and avoiding relationships. Until he’s called upon to help foil an international terrorist plot, and comes face to face with the one woman who ever came close to scaling his emotional walls.
The writing of this series actually corresponded with my move to New York City. And interestingly, the first and third books are set there, but the second is set predominately in Austin—so maybe I was a little homesick?
So what about you? Do you like books set in exotic locales? Or places you’re familiar with?

Congrats on the re-release of your books in digital.. I will be sure to download them to my kindle Dee..
I love exotic locals.. I never get to many of them, so I have to visit through books..
Thank you! And I learned about so many places by reading about them. It’s a great way to “travel”!
I read all types of genres. The setting doesn’t really matter to me. We travel a great deal so it is nice to read a book that is set in a place that we’ve visited. It gives me a connection.
I think a connection is nice. Particularly if it evokes fond memories.
I love fantasy and science fiction (though I don’t actually read sci-fi all that much these days). Both genres are often set in faraway, exotic or imagined locations and I quite like reading about those. In contrast, one of my favourite series, the Felix Castor series, is set in London and that’s special because I love London and actually recognise locations from the books.
So, while I definitely have a favourite genre, the setting is not that important to me. I connect with characters and/or storylines, the setting is mostly just background to me.
I think I’m with you in liking both. Settings that are new to me and those that are familiar. And I love the world building of fantasy. Like Game of Thrones or Terry Brooks.
I love books! All kinds. I have no actual preference. I read it all. I just finished Gone Girl (wow). I read romance, mystery, thrillers, literary fiction, historical, contemporary. What I prefer at the moment depends on my mood. And isn’t it great to open a cover and go somewhere new? Or great to visit familiar places with new eyes? All good for me.
I read that!! I was blown away by it.
Haven’t heard of that one. Must check it out. Blown away is a very strong recommendation!!!
Definitely blown away. Wasn’t as fond of the ending, but forgiven since it was so well done throughout.
I don’t know, I loved the Time Traveler’s Wife right up to the ending. And then literally threw it against the wall. For me if the ending doesn’t pay off then the book wasn’t worth reading. You know?
I know what you mean, but it wasn’t totally without payoff, so worth it. Just not quite the payoff I wanted as I would have done it.
Congrats on the release, Dee! The covers are gorgeous!
I love reading books set in places I’m not familiar with, and I especially love foreign locations, especially Europe. It’s like visiting somewhere new.
Thanks! It’s exciting to see them out there again. And I think the new covers are stunning! I think my love of travel actually comes from reading books set in places I’ve never been.
I don’t know if I have a set preference. I guess a book takes me in the first few pages, no matter the genre.
Though I must admit prefering historical type books.
That’s a good point! A good book can take you anywhere. It’s the journey! But I do think setting is important. At least to me.
