This week’s Favorite Things blog is about places. I’ve visited some really great places over the years–and loads of others are on my Bucket List. In fact, a majority of the items on my Bucket List are places I want to go, things I want to see. Yet while many places have been great, there are three that rise above the rest. And they are:
#3 England. I’ve visited this wonderful country several times, although not recently, and I look forward to returning someday–hopefully in the summer because we’d like to see a Wimbledon match. I love the history and the tea shops and the book stores and the museums and Harrods and Mayfair and…well, just all of it. I love that the Tube makes it so easy to get around–and the fact that everyone speaks English–and with that fab accent! I imagine myself being transported back to Jane Austen’s time. It’s the country where I’ve set all my historical books and it holds a special place in my heart.
#2 Venice. Actually, all of Italy, but this city in particular, with it’s winding canals and fabulous food and history. It oozes romance and mystery and a charm that exists no where else. There is no other city in the world like it.
And my #1 favorite place is: Bermuda. The DH and I have visited this British island numerous times and we love it. The beaches are gorgeous, the shopping and food terrific, the boating unsurpassed, and we love getting around town on a moped. We’re not planning to visit Bermuda this year
but hopefully we’ll get back there next year.
What are your favorite places? What places are on your Bucket List to visit? Hope you have a great week!

Ever since seeing Lord Of The Rings I have wanted to go to New Zealand. The countryside looks breathtaking. Another big item on my bucket list is to see the Northern Lights in person.
I love living in England. Love our history here. The number one thing on my bucket list? Walking on a glacier. I guess Clan of the Cave Bear series has really stuck on me. Then add Rome. I am really into Roman history. And then there is a place in Turkey where they believe Helen and Achilles found fame in a place called Troy. Not near the sea any longer but I still want to go.
The one place on my bucket list to visit is Australia… I hope to get there one day…
Gosh there are so many!!! But I’ll try! Favorite cities–Prague, London and New York. Favorite towns–Hallstadt, Creede, Bellagio Favorite countries–Ireland, Italy, Austria, Japan Fav vacations–Boothbay Harbour, Maine, Cornwall, Italy–lake countries. When is your trip to italy?
We have a 5th wheel and have done a great deal of traveling in the United States. Top of my list is Williamsburg, VA. You learn something new every time we visit. Washington DC is another wonderful place. We take the metro to downtown. Love the National Zoo and watching the pandas. We have been to the National Art Gallery, the Capitol, all the monuments and Arlington Cemetery. Yellowstone National Park is different every time we visit. Love to see the bears, the bison, and the other animals.
Oh I LOVE Williamsburg!!! And DC, too.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh! I’ve been to England and Venice (and I would add Paris to my personal list). But have never been to Bermuda. I. Want. To. Go.
It seems all of your favorite places are on my bucket list. I got to spend 1 quick day in London and took a double decker tour years ago and I want to go back and spend some real time. I also want to get back to Paris and I love to see India and Egypt.
Greece is my bucket list place. And Machu Picchu.
I love Venice. I love England. And I love Taos, New Mexico, where I will be most of August.
Oh… Sante Fe. I keep thinking of places as you guys do.
Wow, you picked all my favorite places! I would have to put Venice first though! Loved England, but Ireland is right up there. Haven’t been to Bermuda in years, but it is breathtaking. I loved all of Italy, the scenery, the FOOD, and the people!
I just found this blog, and I love your site! Jacquie, I love your contemporaries, especially Seaside Cove. Going to try and find Kiss the Cook! I plan to be back!!! Thanks…
Thanks, Pat! Great to see you here!
Disney World! It feels like home to me. I could go back again and again and again. I have a long list of favorites and a longer list of places yet to be seen. I’ve been watching the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee footage and wishing I were in England right now. And wouldn’t it be fun to time travel?
Only with proper supplies!
Of course.
