Monday, Monday…

by Kathleen O'Reilly on May 21, 2012

So, I am out of things to blog about today.  I used up my interesting topic quota on Friday, so alas, I am forced to blog about boring things instead.  In my first official boring topic, I think the WhineSisters should have a SuperPacOfBonBons.  It should just like a political SuperPac, but it should be for romance novels instead.  We should be able to accept contributions of unlimited size and from whomever we choose, without public disclosure rules, and we should be able to run ads and commercials about whatever we want, although I suppose that mainly we should run it about our novles.  RWA, I think this is an excellent cause to take up.  Piracy?  Pbhhhhbt.  Digital rights and out of print clauses?  Meh.  No, SuperPacOfBonBons (or SPOBB for short).  That’s what we should do.  Now… who do I know on the RWA board????  Who is that??  Oh, yeah, hey, Julia London!!!!

In boring topic Number two, I STILL have not seen  the Avengers, however, the O’Reilly family is planning a Day O’Fun sometime during the holiday weekend, and I swear, as God is my witness, that I shall SEE the Avengers, and possibly the Hunger Games, too (that’s, ‘also’, not II, which would be a swift trick, but no…).  I am desperate for fun.  Desperate I say.  We have discussed go-karting, smuggling fireworks from Pennsylvania (I’m hoping that Homeland Security is not reading this post), tearing down our closet and starting the closet Version 2.0 (inspired by Julia London’s recent renovation ‘fun’).  So I don’t know.  I am open to suggestions O’Fun.

In boring topic Number three, which is actually NOT boring.  On Saturday, at the Preakness was held, Part Deux of the Triple Crown of Horse Racing, and Saturday’s come from behind winner was… I’ll Have Another, owned by Lays Potato Chips (not really, it’s actually Budweiser).  No, no really, he’s actually owned by Paul Reddam, who lives in CA, and as far as I know, has no corporate affiliation, but obviously really likes to spend time in a bar.  But, the cool thing about I’ll Have Another, is that on June 9th, he could win the Belmont, which means, he would be the 12th horse in history to win the triple crown.  I think that’s cool.

And in other news… okay, I’m out of boring news.  If anyone has non boring news to share, please feel free!!!

I have not seen the Avengers. Moreover, I have no desire to see it. Do you guys still like me?

I am really tired of Superheroes. I had the same reaction. But my daughter says I need to see it and the rest of the family wants to go, so we will.

Kathleen, you might be bored, but you are never boring. I watched the Preakness in a Manhattan bar called Shorty’s. Lots of fun. I picked Bodemeister both times (Kentucky Derby and Preakness) and he came in second both races. I should have realized that “I’ll Have Another” was the way to go, since I was in a bar and everything.

LOL. I love that there is a Manhattan bar called Shorty’s. :)

Best cheesesteaks in Manhattan, according to a guy at our hotel bar (hmm, someone spent a lot of time in bars…). They import the bread from Philly. Because apparently a good cheesesteak needs actual Philadelphia bread?

I have boring news, too:

I have not seen The Avengers.

I have not finished schlepping the crushed granite from the front yard to the backyard.

I have not discovered the Mysterious Hidden Chocolate in the back of the van that has twice–TWICE–ended up on Catherine, and only when she’s wearing nice clothes (piano recital dress, glee costume).

Sigh.

I have not seen the Avengers! That makes three of us.

Oh no on the Mysterious Hidden Chocolate. Are you sure she’s not smuggling it back there? :)

Are you SURE that the mysterious hidden chocolate is not in the back of the van, but actually smuggled in on Catherine?

It is a sunny, cloudless day in my little section of OH. Of course, it may not last all day. I always hated getting sick on my days off. I once planned surgery for January so I could have six weeks without worrying about having to drive in snow to get to work. I’ll Have Another is a strange name for a horse. I’ll Have Another win please.

Husband and I decided that if we ever own a racehorse, the horse will be called Go for Chicken. There’s a private joke in there from our weekend in NYC, but I’m not sharing. Better to keep the mystery alive and make everyone wonder why a horse is called Go for Chicken.

LOL, Sherri. The horse called Go For Chicken, and his younger son, Go For Pizza. :)

Sandi, I hope the clouds go away. Here in NY, it’s rainy and grey.

Avengers were brilliant especially the Thor Hulk bickering.
In my news this is my third day of my happy week off and I am sick. Why is it when we are off we get sick? It really is NOT fair. Though to be fair I think I have a really bad case of hayfever but it is making. Me. Miserable.
Robin Gibb passed away. Donna Summer passed last week. And John Travolta is being accused of gay molestations. What is the world coming to??!
I think in light of my not so brilliant news I am taking my drippy nose and me back to bed. For after all, tomorrow is another day.

Also, the drummer of 80s band Crowded House died (brain cancer, age 45). He’s the second drummer, actually. The first drummer suffered from depression and took his own life about ten years ago. Sad losses. I’ve heard rumors about Travolta doing that sort of thing for years now, so I’m kind of believing it. I hope you feel better, Ti.

Thanks Sherri! I am not panning for brownie points. I took Sudafed and it did NADT. I am going to go for something different tomorrow.

All that death is sort of depressing, isn’t it? It’s like Disco is finally dying in the true sense of the word. And John Travolta is just strange.

Get well soon, so that your happy week off will return to its normally scheduled happiness.

You’re not the only one who hasn’t seen Avengers, Kathleen–we haven’t either, although it is on our list of Things To Do. Very cool about I’ll Have Another–will be rooting for a Triple Crown winner. Nothing much going on here–the weather isn’t good, so will probably just putter around the house and catch up on stuff that needs doing.

Weather suckage here as well. I haven’t moved up to “putter around the house and catch up…” I’m still on “Look at all these things I need to do today!!”
