So you’ve made the dressing, opened the can of cranberry sauce, and defrosted the turkey. But what about breakfast, the most important meal of the day?
Merry Christmas: I am giving you a recipe so easy that even I can make it. And it is SO good. I would type it all out for you, but I would get something wrong, so I will give you a link. This has oats, which help control weight with soluble fiber, and cottage cheese, which gives you a good amount of slow-digesting casein protein in a half cup serving. Plus pumpkin, which has some anti-aging benefits (all this from the Oxygen magazine article). And it’s GOOD. Did I mention that?
If you have time, tell us what you are doing for Thanksgiving. Family coming home? (I know a couple of college students will be home). Going out or dining in? Watching football? Whatever you are doing, check out the recipe, and have a wonderful, happy, safe and healthy Thanksgiving!

Ms. Erwin be careful with the brined..it is very salty when you first bite into it and for me it takes some getting use to. There is a resturant here south of Atlanta that cooks brined fried chicken and it is sooooo good but the first bite…whoooo. I like salty things but brined will take some getting use to. Don’t worry ur taste buds get us to the salt and from then on its heaven. Never had a organic turkey but I do know u will pay a pretty penny for it. Hope u had a great Thanksgiving.
YUM! Pecan pie is in the oven and other crust is ready to be filled. Almost ready to open the champagne.
Daughter is home, all is well with the world. And I’m with Sherri…. open a CAN? Dude, it’s so easy! I use cranberries, port, orange juice (and zest), cinnamon, and sugar. Easy squeezie and YUM!
So easy! Seriously.
Oatmeal looks yum, Julia London! We’re having turkey and the trimmings and then watching A&M beat the hell outta t.u.
Or at least I hope so.
Um….we’ll see. And what will we do when there isn’t an A&M UT (note the caps) game to watch????????
I love oatmeal and this looks awesome:) I might even tempt my teens with it!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I would go light on the cottage cheese and maybe put a little stevia in it for teens.
Like something with some zip to it?
2 cups (8 0z/250 g) fresh cranberries
1/4 cup (2 oz/60 g) sugar
1/3 cup (3 oz/90 g) prepared horseradish
Sort the cranberries, discarding any soft ones. Finely chop them and put into a small saucepan with the sugar.
Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is fully blended, about 2 minutes.
It does not need to cook. Set aside to cool. Stir in the horseradish and serve.
May also be prepared and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before serving.
And this tastes as good with roast beef as it does with turkey.
Makes about 1 cup.

Looks maaaahvelous, Cate!
Sounds interesting, Julia. Might have to try that.
Everyone will be at my parents’ this year. They live here so no long drive–YAY. My plans are to eat myself into a carb coma, then watch some football and visit/play games with the family.
My phone is charged and ready
Sounds yummy! I will have to try that. But— screech, hold on. Open a CAN of cranberry sauce? It’s so easy to make from scratch, with fresh cranberries that grow abundantly in this area (and get shipped all over. I’m sure they have them in TX). And it only takes about ten minutes. Super easy. I don’t defrost a turkey, either. I buy fresh. This one’s an organic 24 pounder, brined. First time I’m trying the brined, but I’ve heard good things.
