And it’s not shopping today. Y’all go ahead without me. Just looking at the news reports and pictures like this one reconvince me that I’m better off staying out of the fray.
I can’t think of anything I need badly enough to brave crowds like that. Just finding a parking space would send me into fits. So instead I’m staying home, which may be boring, but quite comfortable. And how could I leave? I’ve got a football game to watch.
The USC Trojans take on Boston College in the Emerald Bowl today. SC did not have its usual triumphant season, but I’m still a fan, so you’ll find me on the couch, cheering them on, win or lose. I prefer winning – and I suspect they do too.
It’s also a great day to people watch. Laguna is full of Rose Bowl ticketholders strolling around town while they wait for the big game on the 1sr. This year it’s Ohio State vs Oregon and our town is full of people wearing their colors. But I won’t be among them. I’ll be on my couch with hot chocolate and whatever leftover Christmas goodies I can find, humming “Conquest” waiting for the SC game.
But you know, there will still be that nagging feeling that I’m missing fabulous bargains by staying home. So let me know if you scored some great prize, or if you’re like me, vegging in sweats and slippers.
In honor of YOU, dear readers, because we love you and we haven’t given anything away in the longest time, we’re giving away a Kindle Fire (or the gift card equivalent, in the event you have or don’t want a Kindle Fire) to one lucky commenter from now until February 13, when we will choose a winner at random from commenters, to be announced on Valentine’s Day.

Nasty and raining here… so am going to opt for staying indoors. But then that means the mess on the living room floor calls. Maybe a movie?
What does it say?
My living room is complaining that the kitchen is getting a lot more attention today.
I’m all for staying home and watching USC – go Trojans! We’ll be doing a lot of that over the next week. New Year’s Day will be football and pizza (no cooking for me, yay!) Here’s wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and peaceful 2010!
I’m trying to decide, my tree broke and I could use a good half off one, but still it’s so yucky going out in crazy public.
I keep thinking about wrapping paper and gift bags. I do like to get them when they are dirt cheap. But they would have to be REALLY cheap for me to get out.
Staying home sounds good to me. Mr. Right is a BC fan (his dad went to BC) so we’ll be watching the Emerald Bowl to see if the Eagles can beat those Trojans (though my loyalties are torn– I usually cheer on USC for Kath’s sake).
My greatest prize at Christmas was not having to do the cooking or entertaining. I have a house full on Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, so Christmas is a lovely break for me. We had some delicious snacks with my mom, and then MIL prepared a wonderful meal.
I am going to be working. I have to really get down to it because next weekend, I am going to be at the Cowboy game (did you see that VB? Tix to the GAME!)
