‘Twas the Day after Thanksgiving, and…

house_wife_lead_narrowweb__300x450,0My house was a mess. Is. Is a mess. I was going to make a poem out of it, but honestly– it stops with the cold, hard, fact. My. House. Is. A. Mess.

I entertained my family yesterday, sixteen of us making merry in my house. I tried to keep up with it all as I went along, and my husband is a dynamo (so helpful!) so we managed until almost the very end, then dessert was served and the guests started leaving and we settled down with one glass of wine before tackling the rest of the mess, which became two glasses of wine and well… Elf was on. I love that movie! It’s one movie that suited Will Ferrell’s weird talents. And we said, forget it, we’ll tackle it tomorrow. And now I’m awake and I still have a mess.

So my day is obviously going to be spent tackling this mess, putting things to rights. In between cleaning, we’re meeting my husband’s sister and her partner and kids for lunch. And then, once the mess is conquered, I have to get to revisions on JANE SLAYRE (which now has a release date of April 13, 2010 and is available for pre-order on Amazon). That should keep me busy for the next ten days. So if you don’t hear from me, don’t worry. I haven’t been attacked by zombies, vampyres, or one pesky werewolf. I’m just keeping them all in line.

And how are you spending your day? Are you tackling the shops, like my dad is? His girlfriend was in line at Best Buy by midnight and then she picked him up at five a.m. to get to the rest. Is your shopping already done? I worked retail for many years, so Black Friday is one day you will never find me shopping, no matter what the bargains, not even on-line. How about you?

MY house is a mess and there’s only three of us (and a dog and a cat). Off to B&N to preorder Jane Slayre (such a wonderful title). Too cool! Anyway, still eating left-overs here. Going to make soup tonight–with you guessed it–turkey as the star ingredient.

Thanks, Kath! Parrot, mothers– haha! My son recovered in time to enjoy Thanksgiving. He still tires easily, but he’s doing pretty well. Just in time to head back to school on Sunday. It was nice to have him home, but he’ll be back again in less than a month. For a whole month.

We didn’t host this year, so our house is clean – well, sort of. We’re enjoying not having to be anywhere at a certain time and have gotten a little lax. Can’t wait to read JANE SLAYRE! I’ve already pre-ordered my copy.

sherri, how is your little boy holding up? It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My mother kept telling rude stories about me when I was young, in front of my kids! I was a pretty good kid but she embellished. Thanks.
