It’s Raining Books!

by Julie Kenner/J.K. Beck on November 22, 2009

As I said over on my blog, I’m totally down with the idea that word of mouth is the best way to, well, get the word out about anything and everything.  And so in celebration of my six winey (uh, whiney) sisters and the great reviews TAINTED is getting so far, and the fact that TORN is going to be on shelves any day now, I’m going to give away 35 copies (yeah, thirty-five) of TAINTED, and will select the winners on Wednesday evening.  (If you already own TAINTED, you qualify to get a copy of TORN…just keep reading!)

“Brimming with sizzling chemistry, a feisty heroine, a smoldering, handsome demon, suspense-filled action, well-drawn characters and some surprising plot twists, Tainted is a winner! ” Romance Junkies

“Tainted is fast-paced, dark, and action-packed. Urban fantasy fans won’t want to miss this new series.” SciFiChick

“Filled with sizzling chemistry between the sassy heroine and the steamy hot half angel, half demon hero, a creative plot, fascinating characters, snappy repartee and some surprising plot twists, this fast-paced action-packed novel is a winner! Sometimes, the second book in a series is a letdown, but not this one. TORN is just as wonderful as the first book TAINTED. I look forward to reading the next book in this series, TURNED. I recommend TORN to those looking for a terrific read. Do not miss it!” Romance Junkies

So here’s how it works:

1) Leave a comment here. You can comment on anything you want, but by entering yourself in the contest, you’re agreeing to tweet, blog, facebook comment, tell your friends at the office or otherwise spread the word about TAINTED after you get your copy and read it (and, hey, if you don’t like the book, you can still spread the word, but I won’t hold you to that obligation. Grin!)

2) If you’ve already purchased a copy of TAINTED, just do something to spread the word and comment about what you’ve done. That’ll qualify you to get a copy of TORN (I’ll set aside 15 copies of TORN for folks who aren’t in need of a copy of TAINTED.)

3) On Wednesday, I’ll print out the comments, cut them into little strips, and randomly select 35 for TAINTED and ten for TORN. I’m going to close comments at 7pm CST. I’ll post winners by midnight CST. (Actually, I have no idea how to “close” comments, so if I can’t figure that out, I just won’t consider any posted after 7pm CST)

4) Check here or my blog on Thursday or Friday to see if you’re a winner. If you are, email me your mailing address by noon CST on Sunday (the proper email addie will be in the Winners-List Blog Entry. (Because I want to get everything packaged up and mailed on Monday, late address-senders are disqualified.) Email it to me in a format and font that makes it easy for me to copy/past onto an envelope or label, please!

That’s it! Easy squeazy! Then if you like the books, please spread the word!

So there you go. Want a shot at winning? Leave a comment below!

Thanks and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hi there! I followed the link someone tweeted and read the excerpt of Tainted. Love the voice! Would really like to read more. :-)

Hey, you’re from Texas? Me too. Dallas area, though I’m staying in London until mid-December. I love finding urban fantasy writers from my home state.

Julie Kenner November 23, 2009 at 9:10 am

Thanks everyone for participating!!! I’ve got a full day of schlepping kids around, but I’ll pop back in this pm and answer some of the questions that have been raised! (okay, this is weird…I submitted this yesterday morning. Yeesh!)

Luci G. November 22, 2009 at 9:01 pm

I started reading your books a few years back. I have told many people to pick them up. I started with Carpe Demon, Fell in love with Kate Conner series. i have been a fan. The Lily series is still fast moving and amazing. I loved tainted. I cannot wait for Torn to come out. I just loved the way everything just flows off the pages with her character.. I have recommended so many of your books to my family and friends etc. I even got my mom hooked on your books as well. Your writing is totally amazing and I am constantly at the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next. I get so engrossed in your books that I completely turn out the world around me. But I really just wanted to say thank you so much for bringing your books into this world because It has been a true enjoyment reading them.
Thank you Julie for everything!

Cy Korte November 22, 2009 at 8:23 pm

Deborah Blake November 22, 2009 at 7:01 pm

I love the Demon books and look forward to reading the new ones–I’m writing an urban fantasy myself, so I’m especially psyched.

I also love that you admit you don’t know how to close comments :-)

me either…

Larry Knobloch November 22, 2009 at 6:58 pm

This is sooo great!
I have put all three Blood Lily books on my Christmas/Birthday list since they run so close together (Just a few days after Christmas) but if can get a copy of Tainted from you, I can add another of your books to my list.

Thanks so much; whether I win or lose, it’s still exciting!

Natasha Weinstein November 22, 2009 at 4:44 pm

Julie, as I have told you many times I am in LOVE with your writing!! I recently just finished Demon Ex Machina….it was AMAZING!!! I also really enjoy the codebreaker trilogy (I have gotten many friends into that series) and the four Aphrodite books. They are great reads and something silly that takes you away from your everyday stresses. I am really looking forward to reading Tainted and Torn. I have yet to own either so I am hoping for that copy of Tainted. Basically I LOVE your books!!

Trish November 22, 2009 at 4:42 pm

Currently reading the Demon/Kate Connor series and absolutely love it. She’s living the suburban soccer mom life we can all relate to and killing demons on the side. Would love to take a crack at the new series.

Amanda Beyerlein November 22, 2009 at 4:37 pm

Woohoo! Raining books is so much less gloomy than raining water! Love the idea and will certainly pass the word!

Ilana Urquhart November 22, 2009 at 4:32 pm

Hey there Julie, you know me from facebook lol. I am a HUGE fan of your books, and I have told many of my friends about them, like right now my friend from school has read your book “the good ghouls guide to getting even” and she thought it was so good that she mad me let her read your second, “good ghouls do” . A few of my other friends are thinking about reading them too :) And i would really like to start reading another one of your wonderful series :)

Veronica November 22, 2009 at 4:26 pm

I loved the Demon series and would love to read some of the other stuff you’ve written.

Deanna Lang November 22, 2009 at 3:53 pm

I have never read your books and would love the opportunity to do so. I will tweet all about it when I’m done reading too.

Alexia561 November 22, 2009 at 3:51 pm

Awesome contest! Already sent a RT out about this, and would love to win a copy of either book!

Jacqui Ainsworth November 22, 2009 at 3:42 pm

I promise to tell everyone. Well, everyone I know that might listen to me. I already goodreads and facebook comment, as well as tell friends about the other ones I have read. A friend asked for a young adult book rec for a gift the other day and I told her to get the ghoul books even though I haven’t read them yet. You wrote them, they have to be better then that moony series. :) I have to admit I loan my copies out freely but that has to help with the word of mouth thing too.

Julie Kenner/J.K. Beck Julie Kenner November 24, 2009 at 2:48 am

LOL! Thanks Jacqui! And thanks everyone for the thumbs-up on the demon series (and other books!)

Lesley November 22, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Am completely willing to sacrifice my time to spread the word for (what I’m sure will be) a great book! ;-)

Did I comment in the right place? Hmm…?

Happy upcoming Thanksgiving to all my American friends! xx

Julie Kenner/J.K. Beck Julie Kenner November 23, 2009 at 9:51 pm

Thanks everyone so far!!! Lesley, yup, this is the place! Jessica, alas, no. I have one signing in Houston on Dec 12 and that’s it. With everything that’s happened with family stuff, I didn’t want to schedule any others. But, hey, you know where to find me :)

Jessica Scott November 22, 2009 at 3:41 pm

I still love the covers of these books! I can’t wait to get home and get both. Are you doing any book signings in Austin in Dec?

Beth November 22, 2009 at 3:40 pm

I love your demon hunting mom books!! I’d love to read this and spread the word! My Smut Slut sisters would love to hear about it!
